Fairtrade will revisit the Cocoa Standard to strengthen buyer responsibilities on price and contract fairness.

Consultation topics:

Enforcement of shared responsibility for cost of sustainable production.
Establishment of a “Responsible Purchasing Code” for buyers.
Alignment of premium payments with living income benchmarks.

The revised standard is targeted for release in Q1 2027 after stakeholder validation.
