Summary

The STEP consultation will ask stakeholders about the new framework that the Standard team and the whole Fairtrade system are proposing to simplify, consolidate, and remove duplications in its standards.

This review does not include a significant change to the content of the standards, as there is no removal of topics or addition of new topics.

Most of the product-specific requirements have been consolidated into generic requirements when existing.

The standard will become more consistent and user-friendly. It will align language to ensure consistent definition and terminology.

Scope of consultation

The consultation will focus on the new framework and the more significant changes of the extension of the scope of requirement to guarantee a shared understanding of what is needed to comply with the requirements.

All producer organisations and trader certified as Fairtrade will be consulted through individual surveys and workshops.
